Kier Flying Bear! “Where’s the Bear Campaign” – Kier’s mascot Bear will be transported around the UK sites using ‘non-conventional’ modes of transport from July. The Kier Foundation is an independently registered charity, which supports both Kier’s charity partner, and other charitable causes close to the hearts of their employees and the communities their businesses operate in. When we heard the bear and team from Farringdon were arriving at the Deephams STW Upgrade Project to meet a number of the AMK JV team, we were more than happy to be involved in giving the Bear a lift! We provide regular aerial drone photography, videography and aerial 360 virtual tours for the project team at Deephams, to help manage the sites progress and development. See how it has changed over the last 12 months by viewing our aerial virtual tour of the site here. You can read the full “Where’s the Bear” blog article about it’s adventures here. Kier Flying Bear 3   AMK JV (AECOM Murphy Kier) were awarded the £177 million rebuild of one of London’s largest sewage works back in Nov 2013. This appointment represented a key milestone in the company’s Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) procurement process and was an important step towards upgrading Deephams sewage treatment works to meet tighter environmental standards, improving the water quality of London’s River Lee and reducing odour.   AMK’s appointment ends the first phase of Thames Water’s ECI procurement process for Deephams. This first phase involved two contractors working in parallel to drive price competition and innovation. Assessment in this phase included a behavioural review of contractors, both at organisational and project team level. The second phase, in progress now, sees Thames Water and AMK working together to implement the preferred solution. The works will be updated to meet strict new Environment Agency sewage treatment standards that will apply from March 2017. The project will also increase capacity to allow for future rises in population, and significantly reduce the frequency and intensity of odour on site.
